Moon Point Guided Scenic Tour:

Moon point located on the World Heritage listed K’Gari (Fraser Island) is a breathtaking section of beach situated on the west coast of K’Gari. Exploring Hervey Bay waters and the surrounding Great Sandy Strait on your way to Moon Point. Possibly seeing Turtles, Dolphins and Dugongs whilst on the water.

Includes:

Safety and operational briefing, bottled water, guided tour and walks, expert commentary, small numbers and beach access.

Running 7 days a week. Departs 2.00pm, returns approx 3.30pm

Fraser Island Beach and BBQ

Join us aboard Whalesong as we cruise across to K’gari (Fraser Island), looking for dolphins, turtles, dugongs and seabirds as you enjoy a delicious morning tea of fresh fruit and a variety of cakes. We then drop anchor to allow guests to swim, kayak, fish, walk, play, take tube rides and explore the remote west coast of K’Gari and/or Pelican Bank (specific destination determined by weather and tide). After our wonderful time on the beach, we come back to the boat and enjoy a hearty, freshly prepared and cooked Aussie BBQ lunch, which can be accompanied by a cold drink from our fully licensed bar.

Departs at 9am to 2pm (5 hour cruise)
Free filtered drinking water, loose leaf black tea + herbal tea, coffee and milo available on board
Morning tea: fresh fruit and a variety of cakes

4 Hour Turtle Discovery Tour

Join us on this leisurely guided ecotour through the calm, clear waters of the Great Sandy Marine Park. You will be able to view the coral gardens from the comfort of the Milbi, one of Australia’s largest glass bottom boats.

This tour offers snorkelling equipment to enable you the ultimate experience of coming face to face with the infinite wonders of the marine park. You are likely to see fish habitat amongst the coral reef, turtles, dolphins, sea bird colonies, and possibly a reef shark or dugong. Absorb the Aboriginal culture of the local Butchulla people of the region and discover the Butchulla names and meanings of significant local landmarks.

Time is set aside to explore Weenandin (Round Island) and enjoy a healthy lunch. Conditions permitting, we may also pay a visit to the spectacular Pelican Banks famous for its crystal clear waters. Perfect for swimming, or just relaxing on the white, sandy shores.

Whilst it is our aim to offer you the best marine excursion possible, please note that our Turtle Discovery Eco Tour inclusions may vary slightly to optimize the most favourable weather conditions for your comfort.

Turtle Discovery tour departs daily at 10.30am and returns approx. 2.30pm. Healthy lunch, tea, coffee, biscuits and snorkeling equipment is also provided.

Hervey Bay boasts beautiful weather for most of the year, the average water temperatures range from 19C in winter through to 25C in summer, which is optimal conditions for snorkeling. Should you require a thermal shirt for the winter months, they are available for hire at our office for a minimal cost

Eco Sailing Adventure

The morning Eco Sailing Adventure is on the waters of the Great Sandy Straits by Hervey Bay & K’Gari (Fraser Island). Here you will search for the bottlenose dolphins (aduncas) and the indo-pacific humpback dolphins (sousa chineses). Both of these species reside in small residential pods of up to 20 and are found around Hervey bay & K’Gari. The waters are also home to dugongs, turtles, seabirds and other marine life. This cruise has a 95% success rate over 16 years for seeing dolphins.
Departs Marina 8.30am and returns approx 12.30pm. Cruise lasts around 4 hours and includes morning tea. Pick up and drop off from the Woolshed can also be arranged.

Sit back and relax while you float on the waters around Hervey Bay and K’Gari (Fraser Island) on a luxury yacht giving you the chance to take in the beautiful panoramic views. Sip champagne and nibble on a delicious finger food platter as the sun sets over Hervey Bay and the Great Sandy Straits.
The cruise lasts for around 90 mins and includes all your sparkling wine, beer, wine, soft drink and orange juice. Departs Marina 5.15pm in the summer & 4.30pm in the winter. Pick up & drop off from the Woolshed can be arranged.

Lake Mckenzie Walk: 2 day/1 night. Sites: Central Station, Pile Valley, Basin Lake, Lake McKenzie, 20km.

Coast to Coast Walk: 3 day/2 night. Sites: Lake Wabby, Lake McKenzie, 30km.

Valley of the Giants Walk: 4 day/3 night. Sites: Valley of the Giants, Lake Wabby, Lake McKenzie. 50km

Hikers carry their own backpacks with all food and utilities (e.g. tents, cookers, personal items).
Include a 4WD transfer to the pickup and or drop off locations.
Do not include any outside help or support during the hike.
Group numbers range from min 2 to max 6 people, hiking alone is not recommended (however if you are a solo hiker you may book onto a hike if it already has a minimum of 2 people – this is not guaranteed).

Being a coral cay, Lady Elliot Island is actually part of the Great Barrier Reef and is regarded as one of the best snorkelling destinations on the reef with an amazing array of colourful marine life. The Ex-HMAS Tobruk rests on the seabed in an area just North of Hervey Bay. She came to rest on her starboard side and does not disappoint as Australia latest dive wreck!

The unexpected orientation only makes for a more interesting and unusual dive. The Tobruk is like no other wreck in Queensland or the world! She offers a unique diving experience with excellent access and awe inspiring scale. Her stern doors are open revealing her colossal main tank deck and providing a full-length (almost 120m!) swim-through experience like no other.

Resting on her side the dive depth ranges from 12 – 30 meters with ample interesting sections for open water and advanced divers to feel comfortable and challenged.

It will only take a short period of time for nature to reclaim this majestic behemoth. Divers will explore the ship and her surrounds encountering a bounty of fascinating marine life.

Colourful reef fish and anemones will greet excited divers as they descend. Octopus, Lion & Puffer fish and sparkling schools of Baitfish may part as you swim through the second-to-none cavernous tank deck.

For those experienced enough to descend to the seafloor, grouper, cod, wobbegong sharks and rays will await your company.

Accommodation is in a dorm room at Woolshed. Upgrades available upon request.
